Hi Leaders,
Let’s move from “watch me” to “try this small piece.” Micro-responsibilities lower the stakes, build confidence, and give you real moments to coach potential leaders. Think small, weekly wins that compound.
Easy examples of micro‑responsibilities you can ask of potential group leaders to do:
- Welcome and follow up with newcomers.
- Read the Scripture aloud and ask the first observation question
- Lead the closing prayer.
- Facilitate a simple 5‑minute icebreaker.
- Organize prayer requests and send them out to group members.
Micro-responsibilities help us move people from attending to shadowing to leading. Here’s the path to envision:
- I do, you watch, we talk — you model and explain, then debrief briefly
- I do, you help, we talk — share the task, invite input, reinforce basics
- You do, I help, we talk — they lead the bulk, you spot and steady
- You do, I watch, we talk — they own it end‑to‑end, you debrief toward next steps
This week’s action:
- Assign one micro‑rep in advance and clarify success in one sentence. Don’t over complicate things.
- Set them up well, provide clarity in what you are looking for: “You’ll do the opening welcome. I’ll land the plane if needed.”
- Afterward, debrief for three minutes: celebrate one thing, offer one growth tip, name one next responsibility.
Ready‑to‑use invite:
“I see leadership in you. Would you lead the prayer time for the request, then follow up on it throughout the week? I’ll help if needed. After the group, we’ll do a quick debrief. You’ve got this.”
Small wins compound. Keep it bite‑sized and clear.
